The Kingsport TN Mini Maker Faire is a yearly event that began in 2012 to showcase the creative individuals and groups of the Tri-Cities area in a fun and accessible way to the whole community. The Faire is free to attend and is held in mid-July during Kingsport’s summer festival – Fun Fest . The Mini Maker Faire draws over 1000 participants and over 35 exhibitors from the four states nearby (Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky.) The Kingsport Mini Maker Faire is a great outing for the entire family – the exhibits are intended to be hands-on and interactive, creative, unique and exciting and are aimed at a variety of ages. Bring your imagination and creativity, and take home ideas and inspiration!
In 2016 The Kingsport Mini Maker Faire was invited to the White House to be part of the conversation about using Maker Faires as STEM learning outreach.
Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine. It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.
